The ER-FLEX Mobile Cobot takes care of both material handling and transport. It navigates autonomously in production facilities, assembly lines, labs and warehouses. Performing tasks similar to that of a human worker but with no need for breaks. It can handle repetitive workflows and carry heavy loads day and night. Typical workflows for the ER-FLEX: - Machine Tending workflow - (Metalworking Industry, Pharma or Microelectronics) - Sample Test workflow (Quality Inspection across industries) - Replenishment - Lineside Delivery - Box Handling (Electronics, Automotive, Warehouse) The flexibility of the robot makes it easy to change or adjust the workflow for new tasks - or redeploy the robot in another part of the facility. ER-FLEX Mobile Cobot Automated Intralogistics Demo at Olympus Controls | Enabled Robotics
Since Enabled Robotics started in 2016, we have focused on developing an integrated product that combines the technologies of @MobileIndustrialRobotsApS and @UniversalRobotsVideo. Today, the main application for the ER-FLEX mobile cobot is found within intralogistics automation for the manufacturing industry – an area challenged by the global labor shortage. While on a visit to @Olympus-Controls in the USA, we explored potential applications for the ER-FLEX platform, such as this automated intralogistics demo aimed at the electronics manufacturing industry. The activated box tool features an automated grab-and-release function that makes it easier for the ER-FLEX to grab onto picking boxes – and it can be used for different box types. The WINGMAN Tool Changer by @triplearobotics6764 is an ideal companion for the ER-FLEX. It boosts the robot’s flexibility even further as the robot smoothly switches between tools to complete the range of tasks it’s been programmed to do. The ER-FLEX’s integrated vision and calibration system means that the robot can determine an object’s distance and self-calibrate to pick it up – along with others matching its profile, no matter how they are placed on a surface. The ER-FLEX is one single robot that can handle the picking of objects as well as their transportation, allowing companies to automate repetitive tasks such as these and increase productivity. Automated Hospital Laboratory Sample Transportation With the ER-FLEX Mobile Cobot | Enabled Robotics
Our ER-FLEX collaborative mobile robot makes 35 to 40 trips to Sydvestjysk Sygehus’ central storage EACH DAY to deliver samples to the diagnostics department. This saves staff time to focus on more important work - like helping to detect the early signs of cancer. About half a million samples are transported in and out of the building each year. The ER-FLEX mobile cobot operates in an environment where the clinical laboratories are separate to the hospital area. There's an elevator that separates the robot's route between the warehouse with incoming goods and the laboratories, which means that the robot needs to take the elevator by itself. In addition, the robot opens doors and refrigerators automatically by itself. This sample collection and transportation solution is a great example of how the ER-FLEX mobile cobot can be used for hospital automation. We’re happy to report that the robot has become a valuable member of the team. Funded by @regionsyddanmark4995, Syddansk OPI-pulie and Danish innovation hub, @WelfareTechRegion, this is a public-private innovation collaboration between Enabled Robotics and @SydvestjyskSygehus. The ER-FLEX combines the technologies of @UniversalRobotsVideo and @MobileIndustrialRobotsApS. Teaser: Automated Machine Tending Using the ER-FLEX Mobile Cobot | Enabled Robotics
Robotic cells that are static or on wheels offer limited options for factories that want to automate a variety of internal logistics tasks, including machine tending. No Supervision Required Unlike robotic cell machine tending solutions, the autonomous ER-FLEX collaborative mobile robot can do more than load/unload materials and parts; it can collect materials from a designated area, drive them to a machine where it processes them (such as deburring [0:15]) and deliver the semi-finished products to another workstation ready for the next stage of production. All without the need for supervision. Mobile Multi-tasking Around The Clock This solution not only gives your workers the opportunity to use their valuable expertise on more complex tasks, it increases your factory’s efficiency as it can run overnight in a loop sequence (24/7-365) for ‘lights out’ production. The ER-FLEX integrated vision system for 2D object detection and template matching [0:05] and automatic calibration to machine [0:28] comes as standard. For applications requiring 3D sensing capabilities, e.g., environments where items might not be in the exact same position every time, we recommend our 3D object detection and pose estimation package as an optional extra, which requires that we build a neural network (AI) with a Jetson on the robot. Other options could include: - an automatic tool changer so that the ER-FLEX mobile cobot can change tools by itself as needed for each type of task; and - machine operation via OPC UA and wireless I/O modules so that the ER-FLEX can communicate with your machines. The ER-FLEX mobile cobot runs on a web-based platform that you can access via your computer, tablet or smartphone. The drag-and-drop interface is user-friendly and no robot experience is required; it’s as easy as scheduling an event in your calendar. Automating Machine Tending Workflow with ER-FLEX. Case: Momentum Manufacturing Group
How to automate a production workflow in a changing environment? That’s the challenge for many specialized manufacturers producing parts for a variety of industries. But it's possible with ER-FLEX. Momentum Manufacturing Group has found a way to automate their lathe manufacturing cycle using a collaborative mobile robot from our MiR Go partner, Enabled Robotics. The cobot serves four stations: • a lathe machine, • an air cleaner, • a coordinate measuring machine, • and a boxing station. Thanks to smart planning of the workflow, the cobot can run 24/7 and charge while operating. Jon Freeman, Project Integration Engineer, takes you through the workflow and shares some useful insights about the project. We asked our customer, Jon Freeman from Momentum Manufacturing Group to share some insight on their smart solution for a machine tending workflow that runs 24/7 using the ER-FLEX mobile cobot. The entire programming of the robot has been done by MMG’s engineers. Gibson Engineering has programmed the IT integration which controls the communication between robot and machines.
